When you look at our range of delicious Sports and Power Bars°, you'll encounter two terms repeatedly: complex and fast (or quickly available) carbohydrates. But what do these terms mean? Simply put: Fast carbohydrates are short-chain carbs (also known as simple sugars or monosaccharides) that enter the bloodstream very quickly because they don’t need to be converted for long by the body due to their properties. They work fast and can, for example, provide muscles and the brain with new nutrients almost immediately. Complex carbohydrates (also called polysaccharides or multiple sugars), on the other hand, are long-chain and therefore not as quickly convertible by the body. They enter the bloodstream more slowly, and over time. This makes them a valuable, continuous nutrient source that your body can rely on for longer. Often, the combination of fast and complex carbohydrates in a Carb Bar is ideal. That way, you can support your body with an essential nutrient, both immediately and over a longer period.
